The Long Run
A downloadable game
The 1988 arcade game Power Drift is unique for the way it renders roads with scaled sprites, creating tracks that almost resemble wooden roller coasters. I've always wondered- could you apply that to a platforming game? The Long Run is an attempt at bringing that idea to life. Players navigate around obstacles and pits attempting to travel as far as possible and minimize collisions that steal time from your clock. Complete all six stages and the remaining time on the clock will be added as a score bonus. How far will your legs take you?
Please note that this game is for BGS Cab Jam I. Being meant for a custom multi-arcade cabinet, there is no support for keyboard controls and no way to pause the game. The game will also close itself if left to idle for more than 60 seconds. That said, the Windows development build (in addition to the Linux build meant for the cabinet) is available for download and works with a USB joypad, so feel free to try it out for yourself. I might rerelease this with a few tweaks specifically geared for computer play down the line.
